What Does "New With Tags" Mean?

New with tags (NWT) is a term that was first used during the late 1990s/early 2000s by people selling items on eBay and Craigslist to describe their listings. Over time, NWT and BNWT (brand new with tags) became conventional acronyms in the resale marketplace. The two terms are synonymous and are used interchangeably.

Fast forward to today and almost all social media community pages and marketplaces use the term NWT or BNWT to describe items with the original sales tags still attached.

NWT items have never been worn, so they are in new condition.

At Clothes Mentor, we price our NWT items by taking into consideration the original price paid for those items. Based on that original retail price, we often sell our NWT items at about ⅓ to ½ of the original retail price paid.

The amount you can expect to earn selling your used or NWT items to Clothes Mentor is usually based on the condition of the items being sold. NWT items typically earn the seller about 40-60% of the original retail price.

Clothes Mentor also purchases other categories of clothing—such as gently used clothing—which, on average, will earn the seller about 20-40% of the original retail price.

The final category of clothing we accept is worn but still in good condition. These types of items usually earn the seller about 10-20% of the original retail price.

Does Clothes Mentor Take All NWT Clothing?

Clothes Mentor is a resale store selling women’s clothes in styles that are currently in demand.

Clothes Mentor accepts designer brands as well as name brand items from department stores in sizes 0-26, women’s/misses (even sizes). We don’t accept juniors sizes, which are odd numbered.
