Well, spring has sprung, and with that comes spring cleaning at home. Well, it’s part of a new fashion trend that’s meant to last. Joining us to tell us more about how we can upcycle our closet game is Carolyn Webb, owner of Clothes Mentor in Rochester Hills; it’s so good to see you. Thank you for being with us.

It is our pleasure. Now, really quickly, what is clothing pollution, and tell us about your Stop Clothing Pollution education program.
Carolyn Webb
Clothing pollution is a big problem in the US right now. About 208 million tons of clothes get thrown away every year. That statistic is from 2019. So, what Clothes Mentor, the fastest-growing women's resale franchise across the country, is doing is we’re educating the public about an option to sell your clothes. So we have three different categories: clothes that you should donate, clothes that are in really good condition or new that you’ve never worn, and clothes that you should keep… we want that middle bucket so instead of throwing them away or wearing them once, wear them multiple times, take care of them, and then sell them.
Tati (Newscaster)
That’s right, that's right, so let's talk about selling it. We take the clothes that are in the middle category, we bring them to someone like you, and then how do you figure out how to sell them to you, or do I get store credit, how does that all work?
Carolyn Webb
Great question! We evaluate every item that comes in the door and we’re looking for style and condition. Our stores are trendy, so we’ve been looking for things from the last 2-3 years. We’re looking for things ladies are wearing right now. We look to make sure that they’re free from snags, pilling, stains, odors–anything like that. You bring them in, and we give you the option. We will pay you cash on the spot, or we will give you 25% more store credit because our goal in an effort to reduce clothing pollution is to give that 25% to incent you to shop in our store. So we have great things, as you can see.
Tati (Newscaster)
Yes, so speaking of trendy, because you said you’re a trendy store. Talk to us about some of the hot spring options that you have at your store in Rochester Hills.
Carolyn Webb
Perfect Question! Right now, a lot of ladies are looking for very casual, very trendy items, so here we have a nice dress that you can wear around the house at your leisure, or you can put on your flip flops or heels, dress it up, or dress it down with an accompanying bag some accessories. We also have some–everyone wants lux designer, but no one wants to pay for that top dollar price. So we have everything from Dooney and Bourke's nice floral print bag to a 2019 Louis Vuitton, which is very popular. A little bit different to everyday shoes like Polo sneakers, and as you can see, these items are all in excellent condition. These are Tory Burch, so who wouldn't want them? It's like shopping in your sister's closet for a fraction of the cost for great quality items.
Tati (Newscaster)
That's great, and like you said, it's very trendy and one of the things people want to have right now. It's very nice. So remind everyone where you're located so they can get their spring shopping in and selling done.
